靴 ku-tsu (shoes) for shiritori group 尻取りへ

As classy as its name, Mary Jane is a kind of flat shoe or sandal known for having a single buckle strap across the instep with a rounded heel and made of black patent leather. Mary Janes first became popular in the 20′s and girls usually wear them with dresses and school uniforms. It is the formal counterpart of high heels that girls wear in formal events. Its name came from a comic character Mary Jane- the girlfriend of Buster Brown in the Buster Brown comic series. The Brown Shoe Company used the characters of Buster Brown to advertise their shoes through hired actors performing in theaters and stores. Eventually the shoes worn by the Mary Jane Character adapted its name from its wearer.

After many years, the traditional Mary Janes for girls is still popular. There have been improvements and changes in material and colors but it still has its trademark of round toe and single strap. Another brave step Mary Janes has taken is by re-styling to catering itself to women. So rounded toes morphed into pointed and squared toes;
And flat soles have turned into high heels, wedges and platforms. Black still dominates but there’s more room for other colors. Leather is now competing with synthetic types, PVC and others. As technology improves, the more alternative choices are re-created for Mary Janes.

What to wear with Mary Janes has never been really a problem because it got out from the typical formal wear for girls to office wear for women. By just looking at how Mary Janes evolved in terms of style, color and material it’s easier to re-brand these shoes to fit the overall lifestyle of women. There are now sneakers in the form of Mary Janes-fit for women on the run. Even goth and punk rock babes joined the bandwagon in the late 1990′s and early 2000′s. To get the school girl look they combined knitted knee-high and colorful striped socks with Mary Janes along with mini- plaid skirts. Kinder whore and Lolita Fashion subcultures have also been known to use Mary Janes in dressing up. Apparently, these shoes can be worn one way or the other because through the years women have worn them with almost anything!

Stacy Ferguson A.K.A Fergie, singer and member of the Black Eyed Peas, has a song about Mary Janes in her solo/ debut album, The Dutchess. She tells in her song how Mary Janes are so lovely to wear and how it places a special place in her heart. In pop culture, we have known characters associated with wearing Mary Janes. Billy the puppet, in the Saw horror movies, wears a red pair of Mary Janes and Velma Dinkley in the Scooby-Doo cartoon series wears the traditional style.

Anyone can be inspired of this classic icon and apparently what we see in the media reflects how Mary Janes has been a part of our everyday lives. Mary Janes has been reigning for more or less 90 years. What else can it do to continually surprise us? Have we seen it all? As simple as the original design seems to be, there’s more to imagination that’s in store for this shoe. Its future is as long as the catwalk.

The client had lost most of his hair. He wanted to regain a hairstyle that suited his age, with as much density as possible during a single session. It was important for him to vary his hairstyle in the future, so he did not want to suffer from a visible scar if he cut his hair short.

Dr Ilter: It is important to create a strong and natural hairline as well as a dense fringe when trying to achieve a balanced hairstyle. We achieved this using 2,000 grafts, positioning them properly and strategically.

Born in Glen Cove, NY, Ashanti S. Douglas first sang in a gospel choir at age six. Her R&B singing vocation began in 1994 when she performed at a local talent show.

2.    Men

Men with round faces should keep short hairstyles or wispy cut that sweep back away from the face. Use a  product to add a little depth to your hairstyle.

Prom Hairstyles

Prom hairstyles are just one out of multitudes of concern on such a festive night for many students.

Prom is usually the earliest formal party we attend as teenagers. Using adequate planning, most teens have flawless dresses, corresponding shoes, and of course the right dates but how about first-class hairstyles.

Prom hairstyles should match the partial attire and attitude. There are diverse hairstyles for both short hair and long hair but only a few hairstyles will truly enhance your entire package.

No matter what your choice, selected hairstyles should make you feel eloquent and happy. Formal hairstyles are not exclusively for Prom night but for any special occasion and vice versa.

Hairstyles for Curly Hair

Curls, tussles, waves, twists are back better than ever! Trend setting Celebrities like Christina Aguilera, Beyonce, and Alicia Keys at the Grammy wore sexy curls. Even Justin Timberlake did – but he can’t help it.

It’s a matter of expediency, less time doing your hair and more time having fun. Girls just want to have fun!

For a loose sexy style curl scrunch your hair by a medium-to-strong gel. If you mix a little silk serum to soften, that’s fine.

Flip your head entirely over when scrunch. Try to bunch the hair in handfuls and keep the heat flowing between your fingers from side to side your hair. After it’s dry let it stay and cool for a minute, then flip it up.

Model at the 2010 Run to the Sun Fashion Show in Anchorage, Alaska (IMG_2096a)
Fashion Clothing
Run to the Sun is an Anchorage business for woman’s clothing and also tanning. They had a fashion show at the Woman’s Show in Anchorage, Alaska in April 2010. The show is pretty good but the lighting at the Sullivan Arena is absolutely horrible – like something out of a bomb shelter. Hopefully these photos aren’t too bad. I met several of the models and shot with them at separate photo shoots – but it will take some time to post those photos.

In some ways, I have always been a little bit jealous of girls. I like mens fashion clothing, but it can be so hard to express yourself. With women’s clothing, there is such a great, broad variety of different bright things to express different moods. With mens clothing, however, everything is much more subdued. Two womens dresses can be as different as night and day, but mens suits almost always look about the same. With mens apparel, you can make a fashion statement, but you are always speaking in a quiet voice.

Nonetheless, this doesn’t mean that you can’t have fun with mens fashion clothes. Depending on what kind of statement you want to make, there is still quite a bit to do. Nowadays, with the popularity of hip-hop, mens fashion clothing is more bright and colorful than ever. Strong, bold, primary colors are where it’s at. Then again, outdoor clothing is also very popular. Mens fashion clothing takes many forms, and what might look good to one group of people won’t to another. If you really want to impress those hippie girls, wear some quiet earth tones, tan sandals, and cargo shorts. They will be fighting over you like you were tofu imitation breakfast sausage!

You have to be careful when you go to men’s fashion stores. For some reason, clothing has gotten a lot more boring lately. I blame the aggressive advertising campaigns by Old Navy and The Gap, but whatever the reason, a lot of mens fashion clothing is just boring old T-shirts dressed up with logos. The logos aren’t even interesting! If you are into this kind of mens fashion clothing, why not just buy packs of T-shirts cheap at the local JCPenney? You would save a good bit of money, and you would not look like an idiot spending money on generic looking brand-name clothing!

Fortunately, mens fashion clothing is much more interesting when it comes to formal wear. Mens formal wear never gets boring. Although there is not a lot of variety in suits, they continue to look good. It is good to know that, at least in some areas, classic ideas of design have not forever faded from the scene. Men’s fashion clothing for a night out on the town continues to look as spiffy as ever. Sometimes I dress up in a suit just because I like how it looks on me!

Fairytale Fashion

Diana Eng: As a fashion designer who works with science and technology, I’ve learned about some really amazing things. I’ve had some great experiences as a designer: sitting front row at fashion week, working at various fashion companies, researching at the University of Bath Mechanical Engineering Dept., being a designer on Project Runway, working in Victoriai’s Secret Research and Development department, and co-founding NYC Resistor hacker group. When I was a little girl, I wish that my friends and I knew about some of the things I know today. We would have loved to play with them. Dress-up with super sparkling LED’s. Imagining worlds made of deployable structures. I want to share all of the neat things I’ve learned, because no matter what your age, science and technology are always fun to play with.

You may not be able to sew or solder or draft a pattern or program a microcontroller. But that’s okay because Fairytale Fashion is about imagining the possibilities. I will be trying my best to make them happen.

Fairytale Fashion is produced with the support of Eyebeam.

Singapore is one of the busiest , most crowded cities in the world. It is also a one of the countries with the highest density of population. Furthermore, it is also the trade capitol of South-East Asia. A person can find many opportunities here for various businesses and enterprises. But what about the finer things in life, like arts, or fashion? It should be noted that when it comes to these, Singapore still truly has a lot to offer. Here we will discuss about the various fashion design courses that can be found in some of the Singapore`s prominent educational facilities.

Right now, there are six colleges and universities in Singapore that offer some sort of courses which are oriented towards fashion design. They are, in no particular order: Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, LASALLE College of the Arts, Raffles Design Institute, Raffles Merchandising School, Cavalry School of Management And Design and the First Media Design School. We will discuss only some of them here, but if you are interested, you should make sure you look up for all of these institutions on the Internet.

Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts

This Academy has quite a long history. It started its courses as early as 1938, and had since became one of the most important institutions of the sort in Singapore. When it comes to fashion design courses, this academy`s Department of Fashion Studies provides education on the subject of fashion design. The studies offered here have a well rounded curriculum which is designed to offer the students the necessary skills and knowledge that will enable them to work in the fashion industry.

LASALLE College of the Arts

This college has been offering to its students various studies related to the subject of arts for over 20 years. Today, it is also offering various studies regarding fashion design. They are designed to offer both a holistic understanding of the fashion culture and industry, but also to create a professional perspective at each student, regarding fashion design.

Raffles Design Institute

This institute was established in Beach Road, Singapore in1990. Although a relatively new academic institution, this institute has became one of the most prominent schools in Singapore when it comes to the subject of fashion design. Fashion design is one of the main study courses offered by this school. The courses held here try to educate students on the subject of fashion design by developing an in-depth understanding of fashion design processes in their students. This is achieved primarily by explanatory and experimental processes.

As mentioned, these are just some of the prominent educational institutions in which you can visit some sort of a fashion design course in Singapore. And as also mentioned, the Internet will offer you a great insight on this subject. So, if you are interested, browse a bit, and you will surely find a fashion school that fits your needs.

The fashion industry has undergone a complete change in the recent times and the distance certifications for same are required for achieving success in fashion world. Fashion technology is becoming the fastest and entrenched industry in today’s world. All budding designers are working hard to develop new designs and brands which help companies sell their clothes, jewellery and footwear. It’s this ever present dream of being a successful fashion designer that has you work day and night on your designs in most cases for many years without pay and working a job to pay the pills which is brutal torture, when all you can think about is living and working in fashion.Modeling and Fashion design colleges have been around since the beginning of the industry for those that really wanted to pursue the business in a professional manner. For a long time these colleges were often laughed at and dismissed, but as more and more unqualified people entered the business place, these fashion design college options seemed more and more worthy.

There are several elements to the fashion business that one will want to consider. Not only will you want to understand how clothes are made, you will also want to learn the history of fashion, current trends, market trends, marketing, sales, and merchandising. Depending on what you want to do when you are done with your schooling will determine which of these elements that you will want to put the most emphasis on during your fashion education. With accessories and garments that are very unconventional, Carrie explains how she creates these pieces. “I would look for things around the house — junk — and put it together into interesting designs in the form of wallet chains, bracelets, belts, guitar straps, necklaces, cuffs, and earrings,” she explains.

This one of a kind fashion design course provides students with the opportunity to be professionally in touch with Italy’s Fashion Design Learning Method. The intensive online fashion design course of Milan Fashion Campus also serves as a venue for the realization of dreams – may it be to become a professional figure or the famous designer of the future. So are designer labels in the future for this aspiring fashionista? “Fashion design school is important to me — more than anything else right now,” says Abbey. “Once I graduate, I’d like to work for a designer, and what I’d really like is to start my own company.

Russian Fashion Designer Max Chernitsov (2002-2003 collection)

The fashion world has long been filled with glitz and glamour. The ramp for models is always long, dramatic, and well-lighted. The walk is certainly a walk for fame, fortunately for aspirants but sometimes leading to a walk for shame. Who is behind all these promises and/or even breakdowns? No less than the fashion designers.

What, exactly, does a fashion designer do?

Basically, with streaks of talent, creativity, and sensitivity, fashion designers, as if influenced by Rumpelstiltskin, craft accessory and clothing sketches. They usually concentrate in one nature of accessory or garment such as women’s or men’s apparels, swimwear, lingerie, children’s garments, handbags, and even shoes. They, sometimes, lead the groundwork of the creation and promotion of their creations.

Famous fashion designers prefer to be self-employed and they cater for the request of their clients. Some cater to high-fashion department stores or to specialty stores. They establish fashion statements by setting the colors, silhouette, and type of materials that are worn each season.

There are also some designers who are employed by manufacturers of clothes. These designers just adapt fashion statements set by other designers for the market. However, there are small manufacturers who just purchase or copy designs.

Both designers sketch unique garments and follow certain trends in fashion. Likewise, both need assistants who should get used to the fast-paced schedule of the fashion business.

In detail, these designers execute the following tasks:

• Draw their unique designs.

• Create patterns for sample garments.

• Choose textile and add-ons (accessories).

• Apply tailoring and basic dressmaking principles along with draping techniques and flat pattern works.

• Fit and alter the completed product, if necessary.

• Set-up a fashion show.

• Compare the performance of the merchandise against the competitors.

• Keep self up-to-date of latest fashion trends thru magazines and other fashion shows.

• Have frequent trips to fabric showrooms to keep self updated of latest type of fabrics.

Actually, fashion designers can be categorized as follows:

1. Lead or Head Designers

They take care of the executive and creative tasks.

2. Assistant or Apprentice Designers

They usually make patterns and sample garments. They may also teach sample makers how to make patterns and designer garments.

3. Specialty Designers

They coordinate with other designers about special lines of garments.

4. Costume or Theatrical Designers

They usually create costumes used in theater and movie productions on a contractual basis.

The foundations for their creations are their knowledge, skills, and abilities honed in fashion schools and trainings in the long run.

• Basic Design – This refers to technical know-how included in the creation and use of technical blueprints, drawings, plans, and models.

• Idea Production – This is the ability of designers to approach problems creatively and resourcefully.

• Dynamic Learning – This is being able to analyze implications of new information and materials at hand.

• Operations Scrutiny – This is considering requirements of products to execute a design.

• Uniqueness – This pertains to unusual cleverness vis-à-vis trying situations.

• Harmonization – This is being able to having good coordination with others.

• Visioning – This is being able to see how an organization works under real conditions.

The talents and skills of these artists are really important in the fashion industry. The work requires an eye for a striking creation and business management. Thus, aside from the portfolio of their usually creations, formal education help these designers acquire the secrets of the trade in this business. In fact, graduation from a college or school that provides training on fashion and design is highly recommended in the industry, to keep incoming designers updated on the advent of new techniques and technologies.

However, some leaders of this industry view vocational training schools and community college as more capable of producing competent artists because these institutions work along with clothing industries.

Vocational schools provide trainings in sketching, draping and grading, pattern making, garment construction, textiles and trimmings, costume history, principles of design and color; and how to plan and market seasonal fashion lines.

High school students inclined in fashion and design should finish basic courses in arts, sewing, mathematics, speech, English, and business.

Usually, vocational institutions provide a two-leveled program with certificate that is consonant to the degree in Associate of Arts.
