Biography
Matthew Borgatti was born with a painfully overactive imagination, grew up a perfectionist and will probably die on a runaway carnival ride. He went to the Rhode Island School of Design and took summers off to build movie monsters in Burbank beginning with Snakes on a Plane and working his way through Aliens VS Predator II: Requiem. After graduating with his degree in Industrial design he moved out to California to make his fortune. Although this didn’t exactly work out he spent his time there interning at Instructables, building boats for Makani Power, publishing a book called Show Me How, running industrial robots for a show called Prototype This! and helping everyone from independent inventors developing their first product to artists working on giant sculptures for Burning Man through Instinct Engineering. He once wore a tshirt so witty that people thought he was both sarcastic and sincere at the same time. The paradox stretched the fabric of spacetime so thin that he was able to high five himself. He’s currently working at Eyebeam, developing prototypes for and directing the filming of Diana Eng‘s project Fairytale Fashion.

Fairytale Fashion
Diana Eng: As a fashion designer who works with science and technology, I’ve learned about some really amazing things. I’ve had some great experiences as a designer: sitting front row at fashion week, working at various fashion companies, researching at the University of Bath Mechanical Engineering Dept., being a designer on Project Runway, working in Victoriai’s Secret Research and Development department, and co-founding NYC Resistor hacker group. When I was a little girl, I wish that my friends and I knew about some of the things I know today. We would have loved to play with them. Dress-up with super sparkling LED’s. Imagining worlds made of deployable structures. I want to share all of the neat things I’ve learned, because no matter what your age, science and technology are always fun to play with.
You may not be able to sew or solder or draft a pattern or program a microcontroller. But that’s okay because Fairytale Fashion is about imagining the possibilities. I will be trying my best to make them happen.

Diana Eng is a fashion designer who specializes in technology, math, and science. Her designs range from inflatable clothing to fashions inspired by the mechanical engineering of biomimetics. In 2005, she was a designer on Season Two of the Emmy nominated hit TV show, Project Runway. She won Yahoo Hack Day in 2006 along with her two-team mates for designing and creating a blogging purse in less than 24 hours. She has worked as an assistant designer in research and development at Victoria’s Secret. She is the author of Fashion Geek: Clothes, Accessories, Tech. Her work has been featured in exhibits both in the U.S. and internationally around the globe, and has graced the pages of such publications as Women’s Wear Daily, Wired, Craft Magazine, and the cover of ID Magazine. Diana currently designs in the NYC fashion industry and is a founding member of Brooklyn based hacker group NYC Resistor.

Eyebeam is the leading not-for-profit art and technology center in the United States.
Founded in 1996 and incorporated in 1997, Eyebeam was conceived as a non-profit art and technology center dedicated to exposing broad and diverse audiences to new technologies and media arts, while simultaneously establishing and demonstrating new media as a significant genre of cultural production.
Since then, Eyebeam has supported more than 130 fellowships and residencies for artists and creative technologists; we’ve run an active education program for youth, artists’ professional development and community outreach; and have mounted an extensive series of public programs, over recent years approximately 4 exhibitions and 40 workshops, performances and events annually.
Today, Eyebeam offers residencies and fellowships for artists and technologists working in a wide range of media. At any given time, there are up to 20 resident artists and fellows onsite at Eyebeam’s 15,000-square foot Chelsea offices and Labs, developing new projects and creating work for open dissemination through online, primarily open-source, publication as well as a robust calendar of public programming that includes free exhibitions, lectures and panels, participatory workshops, live performances and educational series.
Nurturing the career of aspiring designers, Arch Academy of Design was set up in the year 2000 under the management of the Arch Educational Society to impart specialized vocational training and industrially relevant global education. The Academy offers industry oriented curriculum of international standards with University Certification. Arch in partnership with Don caster College (degrees awarded by University of Hull, U.K) offers Certificate, Diploma, Degree and Credit Programmes in Fashion, Jewellery and Interior Design. Students opting for these programmes can study partly at Arch and partly at the foreign associated universities which ensures that they learn real world skills.
Arch is an affiliated body of University of Rajasthan for Art and Design Related Undergraduate and Post graduate programmes. Arch is an Authorized Study Center of the Punjab Technical University for specialized degree in Jewellery Design, Fashion Technology, Textile Design and Interior Design. Promoting entrepreneurship among youth, Arch conduct several workshops for skill based entrepreneurship development programmes sponsored by several Govt. Bodies. If there’s one thing that most women love to shop for, it’s women’s fashion clothing. There’s something oddly fulfilling about acquiring new clothes. Women love to buy new tops, bottoms, dresses or skirts. They love to buy new women’s outerwear, sweaters and shoes. There are so many different classifications of women’s fashion clothing to shop for! There are also a huge assortment of prints and colors of clothes to choose from. Women love to shop for clothes. However, women love to shop for different reasons.
Women don’t mind spending a lot of money on clothing. It’s hard for some women to find women’s fashion clothing that fit just the way they like it. When they do find clothes that fit perfectly, they need to buy it, no matter what the cost may be. Some women rarely find clothes that are flattering to the body, so when they find a particular item, they purchase that item in several different colors or prints. If you’re going to spend a lot on women’s fashion clothing, you have to make sure that it makes you look good. When you wear clothes that make you look good, you are more confident and feel good about yourself.
Of course, women also shop for women’s fashion clothing for practical reasons. Women’s outerwear, as the name suggests, are worn on days that you need to go outdoors. Outerwear is an extra layer of thick clothing that keeps you warm during cold weather. Women’s outerwear consists of pieces of clothing such as coats, jackets and vests. Women know that you can be both practical and stylish at the same time. Many females love to shop for women’s outerwear in bright and cheerful colors to counter the gloomy weather outside. Some trench coats and jacket come in polka dots or even zebra stripes.
Some women buy clothing during off seasons in order to save money. People can purchase thick coats and jackets at inexpensive prices during the summer season, when wearing thick women’s outerwear would be unthinkable. Similarly, some people like to buy bathing suits, bathing suit cover-ups and beach shorts during the winter. Buying out of season clothes is generally more inexpensive then buying clothes that are in season. You can buy more items this way, making your money go a longer way.
Women love to buy clothes because it is a form of expression. The great thing about women’s fashion clothing is that you can use different pieces of clothing to express yourself. You can mix and match different colors and prints in order to come up with your own unique sense of style. You can look sophisticated by wearing basic colors such as black, brown or grey. If you’re feeling happy, you can wear an item of clothing in a loud, vibrant color. You can wear clothes that are currently trendy or you can come up with a trend of your own. There are no limits and how you want to express yourself is completely up to you.

I was recently invited by my buddy, fashion photographer extraordinaire Jeremiah Wilson, to visit one his fashion shoots. He was shooting a campaign for Steve Madden shoes at Poly Prep in Brooklyn. I went down to pay Jeremiah a visit, and decided to shoot some photos of my own, and interview Jeremiah for one the publications I write for. I thought a ‘behind the scenes’ of a fashion shoot piece would be interesting to work on, and it turned out that way. I had a blast doing both. Some of mt photos came out great, but I was cheating. There are many reasons for male hair loss and scientists and doctors are working around the clock to find their cures. Male hair loss is due to a variety of factors, some due to genes and some due to the environment or conditions that we have exposed ourselves to.
One of the reasons for male hair loss is too much stress. People who work in stressful situations or are facing sudden upheavals in their lives may find themselves affected by male hair loss. Stress actually constricts the blood vessels that go to the hair follicles and as such less blood is available in the hair follicles. As a result, less nutrients are available to the hair follicles and therefore the growth of new hairs is affected. There will be no replacement for the lost hairs and this condition can lead to temporary or permanent baldness depending on the stress duration. The average human being loses about 100 hairs per day, but since these hairs are quickly replenished the hair loss is not visible. If however, the hair growth is hampered by a factor such as stress, then this condition results in partial or complete baldness.
The other major reason for male hair loss is when the uptake of mineral salts and nutrients is hampered. This is caused by eating a poor diet. The hair cells, as with any body cell, require nutrients in order to grow and develop new hairs. Important nutrients that are of paramount importance include proteins, which are used to build cells. Proteins can be gotten from animals as well as low fat foods. Red meat may however not be a good source of proteins as it may contain a lot of cholesterol. Vitamin A, vitamin B6, folic acid, iron, copper, and zinc are also needed for the production of new hair cells. Foods that may provide such nutrients include: green and yellow fruits, dark green vegetables, whole grains, liver, etc. Iron helps in the formation of hemoglobin which is an important component of the red blood cells.
The other reason for male hair loss is the exposure to harmful chemicals. These chemicals are usually used to treat the hair and make the hair look “cool.” Before going to the salon, you should discuss with your hair stylist to see whether that particular hairstyle is a good fit for your body. The chemicals used on hair can cause burns which may lead to permanent loss of hair. Other hairstyles that can lead to loss of hair include tight braiding that has been increasingly been adopted by many men today. This hairstyle should be changed quite often to relax the hair.
The major cause of hair loss in men may however be the production of a substance called DHT hormone. This hormone inhibits the production of new hair by the hair follicles thus speeding up the balding process. It actually is hereditary most of the time and there are numerous prescription drugs that have been developed in order to curtail the development of this prescription drug. These drugs include Provillus, Procerin, Corvinex, etc. It is important to discuss with your doctor if these drugs can have any side effects on your body.

Run to the Sun is an Anchorage business for woman’s clothing and also tanning. They had a fashion show at the Woman’s Show in Anchorage, Alaska in April 2010. The show is pretty good but the lighting at the Sullivan Arena is absolutely horrible – like something out of a bomb shelter. Hopefully these photos aren’t too bad. I met several of the models and shot with them at separate photo shoots – but it will take some time to post those photos.
